Exhibits

All exhibits will be housed in a fast disappearing class of Great Lakes commercial vessels known as the " Straight-decker". This Great Lakes freighter is ideally suited for this innovative concept. Not only does this give us incredible capacity in a structure with superior engineering for a waterfront location, its pretty cool!

Exhibits 1 & 2

Exhibit Hall 1 is the Niagara Escarpment / Carolinian Forest / Brook Trout Stream the habitat typical of many ecosystems of the Niagara Peninsula around Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.

Enter from behind a waterfall and Brook trout can be seen through side panels to the stream. Terrestrial species are located across the stream (blue jays, raccoons, flying squirrels and river otters).

The second level provides an above stream view of the waterfall and the entire exhibit, including forest canopy species

Exhibit Hall 2 is a Northern Ontario beaver pond with a stream leading to a lake. An island in the pond houses the beavers themselves.

The meandering stream is home to several species of small fish. A movable inverted periscope is mounted on tracks next to the stream

The habitat is illuminated by infra-red light
By maneuvering the scope and the lens the inhabitants of the stream can be observed
